Commission for International Adult Education (CIAE)

CIAE provides a forum for the discussion of international issues related to adult education in general, as well as adult education in various countries around the globe. The following purposes summarize the work of the Commission:

  • To develop linkages with adult education associations in other countries.
  • To encourage exchanges between AAACE and association from other countries.
  • To invite conference participation and presentation by interested adult educators around the world.
  • To discuss how adult educators from AAACE and other nations may cooperate on projects of mutual interest and benefit to those we serve.

The Commission holds its annual Pre-Conference in conjunction with the AAACE Annual conference.


CIAE International Pre-Conference: Call for Proposals for Papers

The 2015 Pre-Conference will be held November 15-17, 2015, at the Renaissance Convention Center Hotel and Spa in Oklahoma City, OK. Proposal Submissions were due May 22nd, 2015. PLEASE NOTE: This process is ONLY for proposals for paper presentations for the International Pre-Conference.

Previous CIAE International Pre-Conferences

The 2014 Pre-Conference was held November 4-7, 2014, at the Embassy Suites Airport Hotel in Charleston, SC. Abstracts of the papers presented in 2014 and previous years are available online. Please note that CIAE has signed a contract with ERIC (Educational Resources Documentation Center) for annual inclusion in the ERIC database.
