What's Happening at AAACE
The 2009 Conference, November 1-6, in Cleveland, Ohio was a tremendous success!
Over 400 participants from 43 states and more than 15 countries participated in 180 individual, multiple and roundtable concurrent presentations, five general sessions, four Commission pre and co-conferences, and viewed many exhibits from publishers and educational providers. Wednesday evening at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was well attended and greatly enjoyed. Cleveland, and the faculty and student volunteers from Cleveland State University were great hosts. Cleveland rocks! Thanks to all presenters, featured speakers, the volunteers from around the world who made this a Great Conference. Further information, highlights and photos of the Conference can be viewed in a few days.
Plan now for the 2010 Conference, October 24-29 at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort in Clearwater Beach, Florida!
For several years the AAACE Conference has been held at downtown hotels in Detroit, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Norfolk, Denver, Cleveland and elsewhere. It's time to have the Conference in Sunny Florida at a hotel with a beautiful beach on the Gulf of Mexico. That is where you will be when you attend the 2010 Conference. You will stay in room with a view of the Gulf, all but a few conference sessions on one floor, planned activities on the beach, two swimming pools, and much more. Further information about the conference and hotel will be available in early February. Mark your calendar now and plan to have a wonderful and informative time with hundreds of colleagues engaged in adult and continuing education and learning.
. . . . and did we mention the beach?

The National Commission on Adult Literacy Issues Reach Higher, AMERICA: Overcoming Crisis in the U. S. Workforce
Issued June 2008, and now being included in congressional legislation, the report calls for a program on the scale of a “domestic Marshall plan” to effectively serve 20 millions adults needing adult education and workforce skills services. It also calls for resetting the educational mission of postsecondary education and job training to implement these services. Click Here to obtain the report and related materials.
