Letter From the President

Greetings to all!
There are three very important items for me to cover in this article: My goals as the 2015-2016 AAACE president; appreciation for members, who provided support for the 2015 conference; and increasing the value, visibility, and viability of AAACE and its membership.
First, a few words about the conference in Oklahoma City – by all accounts, it was a rousing success! It was made so because of dedicated volunteers, presenters, keynote speakers, vendors, sponsors, and exhibitors. I would be remiss to not include the entire AAACE board of directors, SIG leaders, and our association’s management team. My deepest appreciation to you and all conference attendees! It truly takes a village, and a full year of planning, to pull our conference together.
When I ran for president-elect in 2014, it was with the desire to carry on the work of past presidents, and move AAACE forward. Continuity and incremental improvements are the glue that holds an organization together. In that vein, my goal is to nurture the partnerships created in 2015, and forge new collaborations with national and international organizations, where mutually beneficial. I also set a goal to expand on our advocacy interests. To that end, expect to hear more about how AAACE will advocate for our country’s veterans. This focus is in addition to our ongoing advocacy for literacy.
As the board and I revisit the association’s strategic plan, I envision a greater focus on AAACE members. This may include aspects such as creative networking and professional growth, leadership development and succession planning, and supporting commission and SIG initiatives. More to come on how we are progressing with the strategic plan, objectives, and initiatives in future issues of our AAACE newsletter.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve our association in such an auspicious role. I believe my path is much smoother, given the trail blazed by immediate past president, Jean Fleming. My greatest appreciations to her.
I wish everyone joys of the season and a phenomenal New Year!
