AAACE has made a committed, strategic effort to partner with organizations that have related missions. Our goal is to connect our diverse practitioners and scholars from across the globe to promote sharing of ideas and professional interactions. As the current AAACE president, building forward was much easier, given the foundation laid for the partnership endeavor, under the leadership of past president, Jean Fleming.

“Our partners are critical in our pursuit of having a collaborative coalition of knowledge,” said AAACE Managing Director, Sarah Berke. “They’re invaluable in terms of providing opportunities for additional learning and engagement to our members, as well as building a strong relational voice.”

This past year, AAACE has announced partnerships with European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA), Association for Nontraditional Students in Higher Education (ANTSHE), and International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). We are now proud to announce several new partnerships that were brought to fruition by Leslie Cordie, Commission Director for Affiliate Organizations. As of this past month, we signed AAACE partnership agreements with the following associations/organizations:

  1. The Council for Accelerated Programs - CAP
In 2004, CAP was founded at Regis University with a start-up grant from the Lumina Foundation for education. The original founder and accelerated learning researcher, Raymond Wlodkowski, Ph.D., had a vision of creating a network of accelerated learning programs that could serve as a forum for collaboration, communication, and information sharing among its members to advance and advocate accelerated education worldwide. Today, that vision remains CAP’s primary focus.

  2. Transformative Learning Conference
In 2006, the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) added transformative learning to the University mission statement. The Transformative Learning (TL) Conference emerged seven years ago as a venue for UCO faculty to share their experiences, strategies, and challenges of incorporating transformative learning into their courses. In 2015, the Conference moved off campus and became a national discussion on applied TL. The following year, international scholars joined the Conference. In the last several years, around 350 scholars have joined the discussion considering everything from conceptualizing and measuring TL to creating official student records of their transformative education.

  3. The Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD)
The Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD) was founded on May 7, 1993, to encourage the systematic study of Human Resource Development (HRD) theories, processes, and practices; to disseminate information about HRD; to encourage the application of HRD research findings; and to provide opportunities for social interaction among individuals with scholarly and professional interests in HRD from multiple disciplines and from across the globe.

  4. The Adult Higher Education Alliance (AHEA)
The Adult Higher Education Alliance (AHEA) serves institutions and individuals who advocate and support adults in programs in higher education. We achieve our goals by fostering the exchange of ideas, sharing effective pedagogical practices and current research that support the learning of adults by providing professional development to our members.
