The 58th Annual Adult Education Research Conference (AERC) was held at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma from June 8-11. Simone C. O. Conceição and John Holst rotated off the AERC steering committee as members, while Lilian Hill (University of Southern Mississippi) and Junghwan Kim (University of Oklahoma) joined Catherine Hansman (Cleveland State University) and Paulette Isaac-Savage (University of Missouri - St. Louis) as members on the 2017-2018 steering committee.
Shannon Deer from Texas A & M University received the AERC Graduate Student Award for her paper “The Money…Was Far More of a Relapse for Me?: A Qualitative Study of Women’s Experiences Transitioning from the Sex Trade to Legal Employment”. Her dissertation chair, Lisa Baumgartner, presented her with a plaque. Her paper, as well as the 2017 conference proceedings, with all papers, including roundtables and a symposium, are now available at http://newprairiepress.org/aerc/event_listing.html.
Next year, the 2018 AERC conference will be held June 8-11, with pre-conferences on Thursday, June 7, at the University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, where Ralf St. Clair is on the faculty. The call for research proposals for the 2018 conference will go out from the AERC steering committee in early Fall 2017. Buffalo State University was approved by AERC attendees to host the 60th annual conference in 2019.
