Adult Education Research Conference (AERC)
Victoria, BC, Canada
June 7, 2018

Deadline: February 15, 2018

The 25th Annual African Diaspora Adult Education Research Pre-Conference will be held at the University of Oklahoma, Norman in conjunction with the 58th Annual Adult Education Research Conference. The conference theme this year is "Diasporic Research in the Midst of Resistance." Members of the African Diaspora who engage in or conduct research on “the lived experiences of Black folks,” are still often questioned and discouraged from engaging in these types of studies. The purpose of this pre-conference is to provide a forum in which graduate students of African ancestry can engage in research and critically dialogue about theories, philosophies and practices related to the education or experiences of adults in the African Diaspora. Proposals will be evaluated on the basis of relevance to conference and conceptual clarity. Please make sure to follow a research format when constructing your proposal. Proposals for paper presentations pertinent to one of the following pre-conference areas are invited:

1) Historical research on people of African Descent who are involved in adult and continuing education.

2) Research on contemporary issues, problems, and concerns relevant to the African Diaspora in the area of adult and continuing education.

3) Conceptual or theoretical research relative to adult and continuing education for learners of the African Diaspora.
