Jean began her career in adult education in 1975 as a volunteer literacy tutor with the Volunteers ClearingHouse in Ft. Collins, Colorado. She earned a masters in Adult education from Colorado State University and studied with Dr. Rosemary Caffarella to earn a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Northern Colorado. She has held a variety of positions throughout her career, including non-profit executive director and graduate faculty member. She recently became an RN, but has chosen instead to serve as a patient advocate in her local community hospital. Her work in associations includes serving as president for the Colorado Adult Education Professional Association (CAEPA), and the Mountain Plains Adult Education Association (MPAEA). With AAACE, she has served on the Board of Directors as the Director for the Commission on Affiliate Organizations and as Director-at-Large. She was also active with CPAE and has assisted with conference planning several times, most recently as conference chair in 2014. She began as President-elect of AAACE in 2013.
