Call from the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL)

UNESCO is planning towards a series of “Issue Notes” that should help to understand how education helps to address effectively the critical situation resulting from COVID 19. UIL is contributing to several of them, including one on ‘Adult learning and community learning/citizenship education’: How has the COVID-19 crisis highlighted the importance of adult learning when the topics for learning ranged from health, nutrition, and wellbeing to continuing learning of their families and themselves to economic and financial issues to critical media reading skills, etc. How can ALE infrastructure, e.g. community learning centres, help in supporting learners to address the crisis?”

UIL is looking for examples from practice of how adult learning/education (broadly defined) may be (or could be) playing a constructive role with regard to COVID-19. Contributions on practice examples for appropriate reaction of ALE “structures” can be short.
