Dr. Christy Rhodes has been an adult educator for over 25 years. She worked with adult English language learners in Florida, the United Arab Emirates, and Costa Rica before becoming an Assistant Professor of Adult Education at East Carolina University after graduating with her Ph.D. from the University of South Florida. In addition to adult literacy education, she is interested in the relationship between culture and learning. She is currently conducting a national study of the culturally responsive teaching practices of ESOL and EAP teachers.
After attending the annual AAACE conference in 2007, she became an active member and has served as Chair of the Graduate Student Special Interest Group. She is currently serving the final year of her term as Director-at-Large. She has also served on the conference planning committee, Transition Team, and the 2017 Site Selection Committee, as well as leading the Recruitment, Retention, and Recovery Task Force. Currently, she is excited about her participation with AAACE leadership development and Special Interest Group development.
