Reflections from the Past-President

This past year I had the once-in-a-lifetime experience of serving as the AAACE president. A few of our achievements from the past months include beginning to create partnerships with other associations, hosting the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame at our annual conference, and transitioning to a new management structure by bringing on a team of AAACE staff from Nardone Consulting Group. Our Annual Report is available on our website, and it’s a great resource to discover the details of what our board and the association accomplished during the year. All I can say is it’s been a privilege to be involved with helping lead the association to achieve our vision and mission, and I am certain we are poised for exciting times ahead. I’ve recently attended several conferences in my new field of healthcare, and I come back every time more convinced that the world is a better place because of adult education, that families, communities, and professions are all enriched because of our insights and commitment to making the world a place of peace and opportunity for everyone.
So when I reflect on the past year, that’s what I choose to focus on - the incredibly important roles we have as adult, community, and continuing educators in making the world a better place. And that means I focus on the incredibly important role of AAACE in helping us achieve that vision, in helping us support one another across the globe, in helping us connect with as many people as possible, to do the most good possible, in as many ways as possible. Being part of an association with that kind of mission, being able to learn from and share experiences with people like the members of AAACE, now that’s a privilege.
Thanks to all of you who made this past year a truly unique experience for me personally and an exceptional time for the association as a whole. I look forward to doing what I can this coming year in support of AAACE, to staying connected with old friends, and to meeting and welcoming new colleagues into our diverse and ever-evolving association of adult, community, and continuing education!
