LinkedIn is often regarded as a social networking and job searching tool. But did you know that it can also be used for advancing academic or business purposes, networking with like-minded professionals or researchers, or even facilitating virtual communities of practice and projects among adults enrolled in courses or degree programs? Are courses next on the horizon? In this interactive webinar, we'll explore how to best maximize benefits resulting from the ever-evolving features and uses for LinkedIn. We’ll also share tips and tricks for making your profile stand out and be noticed. Lastly, attendees will have ample time to share their own innovations, best practices, ideas, and questions. 

Leigh Ann Whittle has more than 15 years' experience in public relations, writing and editing, along with nearly eight years' experience teaching communication courses at Elon University, Liberty University, and Guilford Technical Community College. In 2014, she formed Sapphire Communications, a small business marketing and public relations firm; she also co-owns Aviation Lifestyles, which retails merchandise for pilots and aviation enthusiasts. Her experience gives her both professional and academic interest in business communication techniques and best practices. Leigh Ann has a B.A. in Corporate Communications and Journalism from Elon University, an M.A. in English from East Carolina University, and an M.Ed. in Adult Education from North Carolina State University.

  J. Bernard Bradley is director of the AAACE’s Commission for Distance Learning and Technology (CDLT). His interdisciplinary career spans over 18 years in community/workforce development, grant writing/administration, program development and education/training at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM), the American Association of State College and Universities (Washington, DC), Quincy College (MA), Johnson & Wales University (RI), and Great Basin College (NV). He is also the recipient of a national Best Practices Award in Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). In 2011, Bradley founded the American Council on Business Development, LLC, also dba the American Council on Grant Writing, a national grant consulting and training firm. Dr. Bradley, a published author and frequent conference and webinar presenter, holds national certification as Grant Professional Certified (GPC) through the Grant Professionals Certification Institute (GPCI). His dissertation and current research focuses on the use of andragogy in distance education for adults to create student-centered learning environments in non-formal, community-based and higher education settings.   
Bernard earned his B.S. in Business/Marketing and M.S. in Adult/Continuing Education from The University of West Alabama, and a Ph.D. in Educational Studies and Research with emphasis in Adult Education from USM, a research institution. Additional graduate coursework in online learning and public policy was completed at Athabasca University (CANADA), Jones International University (CO) and Jackson State University (MS). Bradley also completed a Certificate in Distance Education from the Indiana University School of Continuing Studies.
