My, how time does fly! It’s hard to believe this is my last article as president of AAACE. Luckily, there’s still time for some acknowledgements before I leave office. So, here it goes:

I wish to thank you, the membership, for allowing me to serve in such an awesome leadership role! It has truly been my pleasure. Because of your support, I was afforded the opportunity to work with a great leadership team. I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the board members whose names appear below:

Valerie Ambrose
Charles “Chuck” Baukal
Marcie Boucouvalas
J. Bernard Bradley
Leslie Cordie
Nancy Fire
Jean Fleming
Steven Frye
Chad Hoggan
Larry Martin
Steve McCaskey
Christy Rhodes
Federico Salas-Isnardi
Jonathan Taylor
Jill Zarestky

I also wish to extend a warm welcome to our newly elected, re-elected, and appointed board members, whose terms of office begin in November. I would be remiss for failing to recognize our association management team, Sarah Berke, Jessica Atkinson, and Ellen Shea, who have all been wonderfully supportive this past year. Last, but certainly not least, I offer my sincere appreciation to a number of past AAACE presidents. I am forever indebted to you for your coaching, mentoring, and guidance.

I encourage anyone aspiring to a leadership position in our association to select a mentor from the extensive list of past presidents. Speaking of past presidents, and before transitioning to that role myself, I have one request of you: Please be sure to read the annual report for a review of accomplishments by your board during this 2015-2016 term. This group of volunteers worked tirelessly to move our association forward.

In closing, I will soon pass the gavel to Dr. Steven Frye, incoming AAACE president. As president-elect this past year, Steve demonstrated that he is a capable and dedicated leader, who will do a phenomenal job carrying out the mission of our association. I wish him much success, and wish everyone safe travels to Albuquerque, where we’ll celebrate the rich landscape of adult learning together!
