Dr. Leslie Cordie Awarded the AAACE President's Appreciation Award

Dr. Leslie Cordie was presented the AAACE President's Appreciation Award at the 65th Annual AAACE Conference in Albuquerque, NM. Dr. Cordie currently serves on the Board for AAACE (American Association of Adult and Continuing Education) and also served as the Proposal Chair for the 65th Annual AAACE Conference.

The AAACE President's Appreciation Award identifies and honors the person or persons who have exemplified outstanding contributions to the Association during the past year. That person or persons must exhibit a standard of excellence.

Dr. Leslie Cordie joined the EFLT Department in January, 2014, as an Assistant Clinical Faculty member in Adult Education and moved into a new tenure-track position in fall 2015. She has over 20 years combined experiences in higher education, government, military, healthcare and corporate America. Her background includes distance learning, adult education, training, instructional design, program and professional development, and healthcare. Dr. Cordie has a Ph.D. in Adult Education and Technical Communication which includes an emphasis in distance learning, adult learning theory, and instructional design/curriculum development. She also holds a MBA (Masters of Business Administration). Her professional background includes positions with the airline industry and the Air Force Command in Japan where she contributed to quality and performance improvement operations.

She also holds a position on the ePortfolio Steering Committee here at Auburn University. Additionally, Dr. Cordie is a Faculty member for the National Training Institute with the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) every year in July, during their annual training.

Prior to her returning to Auburn in 2012, Dr. Cordie was the Chief, Curriculum Policy Coordinator at Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL. Air University. As the key curriculum coordinator, she played an instrumental role in developing the package and application for SACS accreditation and for the Department of Education approval for a new PhD program in Military Strategy. A critical component of her responsibilities involved developing policy guidance for all academic programs through Instructions or Supplements to Air Force Instructions.

Dr. Cordie’s research interests focus on blended learning and understanding effectiveness in the adult teaching-learning environment. She received internal grants from NAC for a blended learning meta-analysis and several grants for the ePortfolio project. Dr. Cordie has also worked with NCAT (National Center for Asphalt Technology) on a recent grant.

Dr. Cordie is presenting at two international conferences this year in Europe, including Global Learn 2016 hosted by the AACE (Association for Advancement of Computing in Education) and 48th Annual eucen Conference (European University Continuing Education Network). Her recent publications included chapters on emerging technologies and leadership in e-learning.
