The Commission for Distance Learning and Technology (CDLT) will sponsor or participate in a variety of commission-sponsored sessions and events at the 2017 AAACE Conference in Memphis, including: (1) CDLT Pre-Conference Symposium on Social Media; (2) CDLT Forum: Best Practice Winners in Distance Learning and Technology; (3) AAACE Awards Luncheon (for presentation of inaugural CDLT Best Practice Award); and (4) CDLT Networking Meeting. Symposium Purpose and Details
The 2017 Commission for Distance Learning and Technology (CDLT) “Pre-Conference Symposium on Social Media” provides a collegial atmosphere for sharing best-practices and research on using social media and related technologies when serving adult learners in formal, non-formal and community-based practice settings. The symposium is scheduled for Tuesday, October 31, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Memphis Cook Convention Center, just across from the AAACE Conference hotel. If attending the AAACE Conference, CDLT Pre-Conference registration is just $35 additional for AAACE members or $25 for student members. CDLT Pre-Conference rates will not increase. This interactive forum features winners and alternates from the inaugural 2017 CDLT Best Practice Award in Distance Learning or Technology for Adult Learners. Attendees, including both CDLT members and non-members, may ask questions and share their own best practices. Application guidelines for 2018 will also be available.

NOTE: The session title may be listed in the conference program as “CDLT Best Practices Award in Distance Learning or Technology for Adult Learners.”

Winners of the inaugural 2017 CDLT Best Practice Award will be announced during the AAACE awards luncheon. Biographies of winners appear in the AAACE Conference onsite program.

 Both members and non-members are encouraged to get involved by attending this informal networking meeting. Attendees may network with colleagues who have similar interests, learn more about the CDLT and its many programs and activities, volunteer to lead activities like AAACEd It! Webinars, write an article for The CDLT News, apply or nominate candidates for the 2018 CDLT Best Practice Award, recommend new activities, explore available leadership opportunities, or just chill. The CDLT Director’s Appreciation Award will also be presented.
