|2019 Call for Proposals|
The Call for Proposals is now closed. Notifications were emailed to primary presenters May 16.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Adult Education for Human Rights, Economic Empowerment, and Environmental Sustainability.” The agenda for human rights is a central tenet of adult education, which has a long history of advocacy with and for learners in the United States and around the world. Economic empowerment is part of our daily engagement in work and learning in such settings as for profit, non-profit, government, and higher education. The theme of environmental sustainability provides an important area of exploration regarding how we move through shared spaces of our world and the interdependency among health, economic sustainability, and human growth and development.
Each of our work is anchored in one or more of the three pillars that frame the theme of this year’s conference. We invite you to submit a proposal to our upcoming conference and commission pre- and co-conferences to celebrate and share the strong traditions and innovative practices of adult educators. We welcome presentations from all practitioners, faculty, graduate students, trainers, program administrators, community developers, and military affiliated leaders. The common factor linking all accepted proposals is relevance to and advancement of adult teaching and learning, addressing the global issues that frame the conference theme.
Making Space for Practitioner Members: Research and innovative practice frame the mission of AAACE. We invite our practitioner members to demonstrate a strong presence and showcase innovative applications to teaching and learning in formal and nonformal settings. Please submit your proposal demonstrating results-oriented practices in the education of adults in settings like secondary and higher education, the workplace, and community.
More information on the areas in Adult and Continuing Education can be found at here.

The American Association for Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE) is dedicated to the belief that lifelong learning contributes to human fulfillment and positive social change. To that end, we provide leadership for the field of adult and continuing education by expanding opportunities for adult growth and development; unifying adult educators; fostering the development and dissemination of theory, research, information, and best practices; promoting identity and standards for the profession; and advocating relevant public policy and social change initiatives.
We look forward to seeing new and familiar faces in St. Louis at the Arch in October!
